Telephone numbers are given here for calling from outside France. If calling inside the country, drop the initial "33" (which is the country code) and substitute a "0."
From outside France, you'll need to start dialing with the customary international code. From the US, that's 011.
It's important to reserve early for accommodations in Provence, especially in early summer.
L'Evêché The 16th century "bishop's palace" in Vaison's perched village is the warmly welcoming home of Aude and Jean-Loup Verdier. When they opened guest rooms several years ago L'Evêché rapidly became a favored spot for Patricia's students as well as other Vaison visitors. Note please: Payment is by cash only in euros.
La Combe is an imposing Bastide built on three levels with two towers overlooking les Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. An excellent choice in the countryside overlooking Vaison.
Marlies and Johannes Sailer, a German couple who operate one of our favorite restaurants, in the village of Sablet. Besides Johannes’s excellent food, they now offer two guest rooms that are fresh and charming and only 15 minutes from Chanteduc.
Le Beffroi The charming site of this 16th century residence in Vaison's medieval Haute Ville is memorable, with dominating views over the town. Le Beffroi is Vaison's best known hotel, but in the summer especially be warned that the bells in the church next door ring every hour through the night.
An old farmhouse newly restored and operated by a young couple as a B&B. In a quiet corner of Vaison near the Cathedral and the Roman ruins. Lots of charm.

La Catouna A B&B inside Villedieu, a picture-postcard walled village 10km from Vaison. (It is said that Francois Truffaut had a house here, and it's true -- friends now own the property.) Two comfortable guest rooms, each on a separate floor and private bath, one with a tiny terrace for breakfast in the morning sunshine. Much charm and a very warm welcome.

Domaine du Crestet , a Provençal mas, or farmhouse, built in the mid-1800's and recently restored, is built around a central courtyard. Apartment style accommodations with kitchen facilities.
A charming apartment with modern, well-equipped kitchen and a spectacular balcony view of the medieval city and its chateau. Situated on the north quay of the river, it is an easy 18-minute walk from Chanteduc to the apartment, all downhill at the end of the day.
Private Home Rentals
Beautiful condo overlooking Vaison’s Roman Ruins
Spacious newly renovated apartment with views of Vaison’s historic Roman ruins, and located just two minutes from the center of town. The owners are friends of ours, a wonderful French couple who love receiving visitors in this separate, private apartment. 2 bedrooms—each with bath—plus kitchen, living and dining space. Plus a spacious private terrace.
Exquisite condo in Vaison's center
This condo is the perfect spot for one or two food and wine loving couples. Located in Vaison-la-Romaine, France’s largest archeological site, and within 30 minutes of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Cairanne and Beaumes-de-Venise. The air-conditioned condo has two bedrooms and two baths. The kitchen was planned by the owner, who loves to cook. Dine on the terrace and enjoy the views of the medieval château.
Note: This very elegant apartment belongs to a friend who first came to Patricia's classes and liked the region so well that she bought a place to live in Vaison.
Haute Ville Manor This home in Vaison’s perched medieval village offers a true private universe : A beautiful, luxurious restoration, it includes four bedrooms, each with its own bath (including one kids’ room with four beds); a fully equipped kitchen, spacious living and dining rooms, huge terrace with pool, and – a real haute ville luxury – private parking for several cars. It overlooks the modern town and the countryside around. If you’re coming with your family or a group, this is a wonderful place to spend the week or longer.

Domaine de Cabasse
Many years ago, when we were spending weekends in Vaison during our negotiations to buy Chanteduc, the Domaine de Cabasse was where we stayed. There were different owners then, but the location and atmosphere are every bit as appealing now as then. The rooms were basic, and apparently still are. But it's a warm and welcoming spot - and there's a pool. At Séguret, about 10km (15 mins) from Vaison.

The Michelin red guide gives it a couple of turrets and describes it as "contemporary construction surrounded by vineyards … whose dining room breathes Provence." It's 9km from Vaison and some students have found the drive at nighttime to be daunting.

If all else fails, or if you just want to try a shortcut, Laurie Réani-Besson at Havas Voyages on Vaison's central Place Montfort might be able to help with housing accommodations and of course with travel arrangements. She's charming, she lived in Washington for many years and she speaks English with complete fluency. It's best to e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
