FYI: Provence Hotels and Home Rentals

Telephone numbers are given here for calling from outside France. If calling inside the country, drop the initial "33" (which is the country code) and substitute a "0."

From outside France, you'll need to start dialing with the customary international code. From the US, that's 011.

It's important to reserve early for accommodations in Provence, especially in early summer.

When they opened guest rooms several years ago L'Evêché rapidly became a favored spot for Patricia's students as well as other Vaison visitors. Note please: Payment is by cash only in euros.

Les Abeilles

Marlies and Johannes Sailer, a German couple who operated one of our favorite restaurants in Gigondas, have now restored a house in the village of Sablet, even closer to Vaison. And besides Johannes’s excellent food, they now offer two guest rooms that are fresh and charming and only 15 minutes from Chanteduc.

beffroi2Le Beffroi The charming site of this 16th century residence in Vaison's medieval Haute Ville is memorable, with dominating views over the town from some rooms and from its terrace. Le Beffroi is Vaison's best known hotel, but in the summer especially be warned that the bells in the church next door ring every hour through the night. (It's not called "the belfry" for nothing.)

living-35 Provence Dream Spend your dream vacation in a new, luxury apartment in Vaison. Experience the pleasure of having your own apartment — the perfect choice for travelers who enjoy comfort, convenience and style.

This apartment is new construction, completed in spring, 2007. Designed by Donald Ohlen of Ohlen Design in San Francisco and the Napa Valley, as well as with Denis Begouausel of Histoire de Lieux in Vaison to create a charming, sophisticated, and luxurious Provençal environment. The décor is a mixture of the clean, classic lines of traditional French and 18th and 19th century French, with antiques provided by Mostly French of the Napa Valley. The result is a harmonious blend of furnishings across the ages.

Note: This very elegant  apartment belongs to a friend who first came to Patricia's classes and liked the region so well that she bought a place to live in Vaison.

Domaine de Cabasse

Many years ago, when we were spending weekends in Vaison during our negotiations to buy Chanteduc, the Domaine de Cabasse was where we stayed. There were different owners then, but the location and atmosphere are every bit as appealing now as then. The rooms were basic, and apparently still are. But it's a warm and welcoming spot - and there's a pool. At Séguret, about 10km (15 mins) from Vaison.
